Baby massage

You have questions.
WE HAVE ANSWERS.
Why Baby Massage

Parents and caregivers around the world have been practicing infant massage with their babies for centuries and often formed part of an infant’s daily routine. It originated from India and The Pacific Islands and has been passed down from generation to generation. Infant massage was introduced to the Western World in the 1970’s by a lady called Vimala McClure, after serving as a volunteer in an orphanage in Northern India where she witnessed regular massage with a range of people from infants to elderly. Vimala fell ill and was massaged back to health by a women of the village. Upon leaving the country she observed a lady lovingly massaging her infant by the side of the road which reminded her of the loving massages she received when sick and decided she would introduce the art of Infant Massage to America where she founded the Association of Infant Massage.

In nature, mammals massage their newborns at birth, by licking and grooming them to encourage their body system to normalize and as humans, Midwives stimulate a baby’s response to take their first breath by ‘massaging’ them in a towel. As a parent we find ourselves rubbing and massaging our infants back to alleviate trapped wind. Infant massage isn’t a new trend, it’s the most natural way to bond with your baby.

“Infant Massage is not a fad. It is an

ancient art that connects you deeply

with the person who is your baby”

During our Baby Yoga courses we will use gentle movements and stretches that you can do with your baby. Including massage, breathing techniques, song, rhymes with actions and sensory play to help support your baby’s physical, cognitive and language development, as well as introducing you back into some gentle postnatal exercise.

See what the parents say about us

“Our last day at baby massage today, and we have loved every week so far.

Tuesday’s classes are an absolute treat, very well organised and professionally conducted whilst ensuring all us new mummies were at ease.

Freddie loves his weekly pamper and we have taken away a lovely little relaxing massage routine to enjoy after bath-time every evening.

Thank you Tuesday, we’ve loved it. Highly recommend xx”

Amy Mackintosh

– happy parent

“Both my girls love doing Yoga with Tuesday. It is fun & totally different from anything they’ve done before.

I absolutely love how much they enjoy it & hearing all about what they’ve been up to at the end of the class.”

Samantha Swan

– happy parent

“My daughter not only loves Yoga and her teacher Tuesday – but has been teaching the rest of our family about the poses and techniques she’s been learning. Being a small person is confusing and tricky at times- and Tuesday’s classes help with all that. We could all do with some coping and calming techniques 🙂 it’s a stressful busy time we live in. Cannot wait for my little boy to attend.”
